I want some new music to listen to. What do you all have to offer?
My favorite band is The Cinematic Orchestra.
I am also loving Greta Van Fleet.
CHVRCHES is good stuff, but mostly their more energetic songs like Lies , or Lungs , or Clearest Blue .
And this song is my current ear-worm.
I don’t mind rap, but I like Aesop Rock over RTJ; I like some of RTJ’s work, but not all of it. (I’m not a huge fan of hearing the N-word, regardless of who is saying it.)
That should be some variation in style for you all to work with.

Based on your video, check out some of Moog’s music from Might Car Mods. Other than that, I don’t know if I have any suggestions that’ll work. The Sheepdogs, maybe?

Yeah. I used to like a couple Frou Frou tracks quite a bit. I tend to want to listen to more active songs, and I know she does a lot of slower stuff too.

That sound is a bit mellow. Maybe some Tacocat?
Edit: Not that Tacocat is mellow. Really two different statements that should have been independent from one another.

I’m not a big fan of her work with Frou Frou, but I think her other stuff is exceptional. I know not everybody is a fan, but it really speaks to me.

Want suggestions of progressive rock and progressive metal? Because that is all I have to offer lol. Or other forms of metal, all I really know is metal. But I pretty much enjoy anything which isnt pop music. I would rather listen to twangy country crap or really ghetto rap than pop junk!!

I like a few Tool, and APC songs. Depends on the song though. I really like the middle-schools kids cover of 46 and 2.

I’ve been using Triple J’s annual Hottest 100 as a source of discovery for a few years now with decent results. Here’s the 2017 countdown from last January:

Excellent source, thanks!
And I happen to love that song too. Not a huge fan of the entire album though. But DNA and Humble are catchy and Humble can be applied to lots of people right now, which is fun.

Ahh yeah I need to listen to more of A Perfect Circle. The thing I want most in life is a new Tool album though.
An interesting playlist combines Tool, Primus, and Pink Floyd. None of that goes together at all but it represents such a wide array of strange but good that I love it.

Yeah, I wasn’t too sure about Humble at first, but it has definitely grown on me. One of the more surprising takeaways from those lists for me has been the Australian hip hop (Hilltop Hoods, Thundamentals, etc.). I’ve also caught a few new albums/tracks that would have otherwise flown under the radar here from artists who had been seemingly inactive for the last 5+ years, like The Avalanches in 2016 (see: “Frankie Sinatra” and “Because I’m Me”).
